He passed away on October 9, 2016, in Warsaw at the age of 90, but his contribution to cinema remains timeless. Wajda’s films often grappled with Poland’s turbulent history, weaving together themes of war, identity, and social struggle. His masterpieces include Ashes and Diamonds (1958), Man of Marble (1977), Man of Iron (1981), The Promised Land (1975), and Katyn (2007).
